Emmy Inspired Wedding Style

Many of you may be thinking, what do the Emmys have to do with my wedding? The red carpet is full of gorgeous women in expensive, elegant gowns with full hair, makeup and accessories. So while you may not be able to completely knockoff these looks, you can print a hair style or makeup look to be the inspiration for your big day.

If only I could convince Neil Lane to lend me a few million in diamonds for my big day. I’d promise to give them back.

Bridesmaids Break from the Uniformity

There are a lot of details that the bride should get to pick in her wedding – that probably goes without saying. Especially for her bridesmaids, it is the bride’s big day after all. But brides need to remember that even though their friends have agreed to be their minions for a day, they are still their own people. You love each and every one of them for their unique personalities and individual styles. Don’t get me wrong – boss them around until they look uniform in your bridal party if you like. But maybe allow their personality to shine through in at least one element. The most minor detail you can give up? Nail polish. It may seem silly but allowing them to pick this one thing for themselves might go a long way.

And I could not resist re-posting this picture from cupcakes and cashmere. I am 100% in love with these short glittery, golden nails. They might be a little much for a bride on her wedding day, but perfect for your bridesmaids that have equally sparkly personalities that need to shine through!

Wedding Makeup on the Big Day, Guest Post Part 2

Wedding makeup can easily be a do it yourself project for your big day, just be aware of three basic elements and practice your look the day before.

1. Start with a good base. Be sure your foundation is the right color and formulation for your skin. Just stick with the liquid or powder that works for you and make sure it’s the right shade for your skin tone. Also, don’t cake concealer on - use color correcting concealers like green or yellow to balance the redness.

2. Avoid the shiny look. Glitter will reflect too much on camera and shimmery foundations look too slick and shiny in photos. If you feel the need for a little shine, limit yourself to sheen on the cheekbones and cupid’s bow. Don’t forget – always finish the t-zone with powder!

3. The eyes have it. Keep eyes looking big and bright by applying matte or pearl shadows, highlighting inner corners and brown bones with light shades, and avoiding darker shadows and heavy liners.
