Black and White Wedding Invitations - A Timeless Classic

Formal, classic, timeless.  You cannot go wrong with a black and white wedding, as black has forever been a favorite in clothing and design.

Black has a lot of advantages for weddings too - it creates beautiful photographs, is instantly slimming, and goes perfectly with just about any accent color.

The best thing about going with black is that you can find some unbelievably elegant and stunning wedding invitations.

Wood carved swirls give this wedding invitation a touch of vintage, while still remaining classic and elegant.  Charcoal colored text makes the black script font really stand out for the couple’s names.  The Filigree wedding invitation is available at our store, Modern Girl Invitations.  It’s really stunning in black, but is customizable in any color shown on our color chart.

Another invitation that looks amazing in black is our Vintage Monogram wedding invitation.

This design features a monogram designed in a font that is reminiscent of 1920s style typefaces.  The result is an elegant, formal wedding invitation with a touch of nostalgia and vintage class.

Bright and Bold: Scrolls Wedding Invitation in Purple, Green, Mulberry, and Teal!

Soon-to-be-bride Laura contacted us a few weeks ago with grand visions of a “Morroco meets India” wedding showcasing dark purples, oranges,  greens, peacock teal, and mulberry, with lots of gold to boot!  She loved our Antique Scrolls wedding invitations but wanted to really amp up the color to create something bold and striking.

And the result…

Antique Scrolls wedding invitation in bold beautiful colors!

….unique and unforgettable!

Laura and I went through quite a few different color variations to finally reach this combination, and I think it was really worth it.  The colors are bright, bold, and really pop when seen in person.  Forget pastels or safe colors, Laura was quite daring and it really paid off!

Although we don’t show all potential color combinations for each design on Modern Girl Invitations, we encourage brides to change up our posted color schemes so that their invitations match their wedding colors perfectly (free of charge of course!).  That way your invitations become very personalized and very you :)

Thanks again to Laura for coming up with such a different and inspirational color scheme!

Sneak Preview - Art Nouveau Inspired Monogram Wedding Invitations

Just a little sneak preview of a new invite that will shorty be added to Modern Girl Invitations.  It’s a new monogram invitation with a classy vintage look and inspiration from the Art Nouveau period.

Vintage Monogram Wedding Invitation

This wedding invitation suite is super elegant and features a monogram on the invitation.  The collection items will have the words “response”, “reception”, “directions”, etc. in place of the monogram, just like our Chic wedding invitation collection.

Pictures of the full suite should be up in the next few weeks :)  I am just *so* in *love* that I had to do a mini post on these!  If anyone is interested in ordering these before they’re posted on Modern Girl, drop me a line!

Pretty Vintage Wedding Brooches (or is it Broaches?)

While perusing Etsy for my own shopping pleasure last night, I came across some lovely vintage brooches that would be the perfect accessory for a wedding dress, veil, or hairpiece.

Bronze Vintage Wedding Brooch

Golden wedding brooch

Available from Leena Lenna Design Studio on Esty

These really caught my eye because they reminded me of the brooch that I wore on my own dress.  My Paloma Blanca came with a ribbon (which got removed) and a brooch with rhinestones and mother of pearl that I decided to keep.  It added a tiny bit of vintage bling to my dress and that really excited me.

My little touch of vintage glam.

My little touch of 1920s vintage glam.

As you can tell, I really love a good “brooch”, but isn’t it really “broach”?  I’ve always pronounced it as “b-roach”, not “b-r-eeww-ch”.  I must have been in the dark all these years because when I went back to Etsy to revisit my find, broach turned up nil in the search results!  Don’t  you hate finding out you’ve been spelling something wrong for 20+ years?

Regardless of the spelling, you can’t deny the wedding accessory possibilities.  A few more ideas…
