A touch of hot pink is always called for. What is a better representative of shabby chic than these vintage monogram invitations in a modern color? They mix a touch of old school with a dash of current trends, the definition of a shabby chic mix. A soft design with a burst of confident color sets the tone for your shabby chic wedding guests.

Planning a Shabby Chic Wedding

I don’t know where the term ‘shabby chic’ came from but I am constantly drawn to the images that fall into this category. It’s an unrefined elegance - a combination of natural, seamlessly-careless pieces put together to make for some stunningly beautiful pictures. And it usually has a very subtle touch of country. So this week I am planning the ultimate shabby chic wedding, an easy wedding theme for those couple looking for fabulous presentation on a limited budget.

Here are a few images that would make perfect details at a shabby chic wedding, so you know what we’re looking for this week.

Real Modern Wedding in NYC

This wedding has so many well thought out and adorable details that I could not resist posting this Style Me Pretty wedding this week. And as I said, I’m in a particularly girly mood this week and this wedding includes so many amazing feminine details. Amazing.

I love wedding photo shoots in everyday locations. Something about the fabulously decked out bridal party in a café or subway station seems so out of place, but the juxtaposition of the two contradictory elements makes the picture more interesting. Check number one for this wedding’s amazing details.

Also, the bride is wearing bright pink ballet flats. You know I have a thing against white wedding shoes and I also love that she resisted the traditional high heel for something a bit more comfortable. Those navy blue bridesmaids’ dresses are also cut so perfectly, they’re flattering on each of her ladies. So glad to see this bride is confident enough to allow her bridesmaids to show off their good looks too.

And the chandelier studded reception? Absolutely my favorite detail.

Wedding Color Inspiration

Picking a wedding color palette can be the most difficult part of planning. Isn’t it always the first step that’s the hardest with everything? You can find countless options of flowers, stationery, bridesmaids’ dresses, and cakes in every color imaginable – all you have to do is pick one. And while it may seem like a daunting task, it should be the most fun part! A pop of color can change the tone of a room and brighten a dull day. A vase of pink roses can make a house a home and yellow rain boots can put some shine in a dark, rainy afternoon. Color is such a fun and important element of every day life, and is especially so for your wedding day.

So how do you narrow down your options? Pick a color you’d like in multiple hues so you’ll have more options when shopping. Or start picking out elements you like from websites and magazines then make your color inspiration board. See which colors you were naturally drawn too then pick the one or two most predominant for your wedding color palette.
