Interactive Guest Books

I’ve already shared a number of untraditional guest book ideas with you. But why not try something completely different? Get your guests more involved than a signature in a book to share in your big day. Have your guests write marriage fortunes for the happy couple – you’ll have better luck getting good fortunes than from a standard cookie.

Or have your guests write messages, roll them up, and seal them in a bottle. Open your message in a bottle guest book on your one year anniversary.  Or use it as decor in your home!

For a really fun activity, create a wedding Mad Libs for your guests to fill out! Write a paragraph and leave blanks for details such as name, how long they’ve known the couple, a word to describe the couple style and other customizable details. The cards would look great on your reception tables and are a unique memory from your wedding day.

Borrowed Wedding Traditions

Wedding celebrations often turn into not just a celebration of the marriage but also a celebration of the wedding couples’ cultures. If you’re like me and have no definite cultural background to celebrate do not worry. This only opens up the possibilities and instead of strictly following Italian, Jewish or German traditions, you can pick and choose the elements that fit best with your wedding plans.

NYmag.com suggested some great cultural wedding traditions for you to incorporate, including links to products and companies that will help you pull it off. My favorite from the bunch is borrowed from the Netherlands. Instead of using a guest book the Dutch have a wishing tree. Guests write well wishes and congratulations to the couple on leaf-shaped paper and tie them from branches with ribbon. How cute is that? If you still want a guest book from your wedding, just keep the leaves and paste them into your own book with pictures of your wedding guests. What a unique keepsake. Custom Bound Guest Books

Guest books are a great wedding keepsake for the couple to have. It’s also a great way for your guests to wish you the best on your big day, in case you don’t have much time to chat with each person. These custom designed and bound guest books from Elegantly Bound are just too hard to resist! And they work perfectly with our whimsical garden themed wedding this week.

Or choose a custom fabric more closely related to your wedding stationary, like this floral design. Love them both.

And I love that you can customize the interior pages for guests to just leave a message, ask questions, include pictures or even just have tiny envelopes for your notes. When you pick the binding, fabric and page layout you’re sure to have a one-of-a-kind piece at your wedding that none of your guests have seen before.

Setting up your guest book on the gift table? Why not try one of these matching card boxes as a simple way to complete your table décor.

Scrapbook Inspired Wedding Details

Check out these amazing do-it-yourself scrapbook-inspired wedding ideas from an old friend of mine that just got married.

My friend Noaillese is a die hard scrapbooker who can turn puffy letters and ho-hum pictures into a work of art with her cricut.  When it came to her wedding, she delivered on the details :)

The most inspiring detail in her wedding was her updated “guest book”.  Noaillese created a set up of “wish cards” where guests could write a personal note for the bride and groom.  Where would all of the notes eventually go?  Her wedding scrapbook, of course ;)

The Wedding Wish Cards Set-up

Noaillese also made her own wishing well.  Remember those old school lacey card boxes that looked like a pimped out birdhouse gone awry?  Why go there when you can make your own.  Decorating an old shoe box isn’t too hard, and a trip to Micheal’s scrapbooking aisle will hopefully be all the inspiration you need.

Here are some more amazing handmade details from Noaillese’s wedding.  Also, Noaillese recently opened up an Etsy shop where she sells adorable scrapbook inspired cards and trinkets.  Check out her goods at Noey’s Papers.
