Borrowed Wedding Traditions

Wedding celebrations often turn into not just a celebration of the marriage but also a celebration of the wedding couples’ cultures. If you’re like me and have no definite cultural background to celebrate do not worry. This only opens up the possibilities and instead of strictly following Italian, Jewish or German traditions, you can pick and choose the elements that fit best with your wedding plans.

NYmag.com suggested some great cultural wedding traditions for you to incorporate, including links to products and companies that will help you pull it off. My favorite from the bunch is borrowed from the Netherlands. Instead of using a guest book the Dutch have a wishing tree. Guests write well wishes and congratulations to the couple on leaf-shaped paper and tie them from branches with ribbon. How cute is that? If you still want a guest book from your wedding, just keep the leaves and paste them into your own book with pictures of your wedding guests. What a unique keepsake. Orange Wedding Inspiration Board

It has been cold and rainy on the east coast but this orange wedding has been a bright spot this week. The vibrant colors yet classic settings make this wedding fun and modern while still keeping it a formal affair. It was the best color palette for my last summery wedding plan. Hopefully this weekend have a bit more sunshine!

Orange Wedding Reception

Those orange escort cards deserve the perfect reception setting and I think I’ve found just the one. This orange and white tent is fun yet refined – the perfect balance. Plus you know I love a good paper lantern, especially in bright color and especially in clusters of the same hue. These tables include the actual fruits and extend that pattern in the paper lanterns, also both orange and circular.

I also like the family-style reception tables. They give your wedding a more laidback, comfortable style. All around perfect for this week’s orange wedding.

Orange Damask Wedding Invitations

A bright orange wedding invitation tells your guests your wedding will be fun from the very first moment. A soft, muted wedding service and quiet reception wouldn’t usually have bright orange as the predominant wedding color. Balance the fun, bright color selection with a vintage and timeless damask wedding invitation suite like this one by Modern Girl Invitations.

The classic pattern in a playful, bright color gives these invitations a modern feel.
